Questions for Individual Reflection or Group Discussion

  • One of the unique characteristics of the Christian faith, also shared with Judaism, is the belief that God our Creator desires to have a personal relationship with each one of us. Most world religions describe their god or gods as distant deities, largely uninvolved in the details of our daily life. Have you thought much about this?
  • Is it difficult for you to “cast all of your cares on the Lord”? Do you have that much confidence in God? If not, why not?
  • King David and Noah are remarkable examples of “righteous men.” Would you agree that they are models for us, even though they lived in a different age and culture? How can we learn to trust God, even in impossible situations, like they did?
  • Are you willing to believe God’s promise that He will equip us “with everything good for doing His will”? Most times we don’t feel well-equipped, right? How can we learn to trust God’s promise – what steps can we take?
  • God’s gift of shalom is priceless. It can not be found or achieved any other way, except through believing in Jesus. Why do we have such a difficult time accepting this Biblical truth?
